Media Revolution (TriggerLA) Sept 2001 – Jan 2003
Manager of Web and Interactive Design Santa Monica, CA
Manager of Web and Interactive design - former lead technologist of one of LA’s top interactive marketing companies, experience in digital media production for film, music, games, advertising, and eBusiness.
- Lead Technologist on Sony Pictures’ compelling website and online community for the Spider-Man motion picture. Developed a site in phases and constantly synchronized the message with Sony’s offline marketing, reinforcing the website’s impact. Because the website for a blockbuster movie tends to draw high levels of use, the application was built on a robust platform that could withstand an extremely high average number of visitors per week and could scale up to accommodate occasional daily spikes of up to ten times the average weekly traffic. Precise and timely reporting and tracking gave Sony the option of constantly monitoring site traffic, quantifying user registrations, and fine-tuning development strategies. The Spider-Man website logged more than a half million unique users per month in the three months preceding the film’s opening, recordbreaking traffic for a official movie website.
- Lead Technologist for Columbia Pictures online viral marketing application to promote their movie, “The One”. Created an innovative game concept: an asynchronous multi-player martial arts fighting game in which the player combated virtual opponents on his handheld device. The game was compatible not only with current generation Palm devices but also with the entire gamut of PDAs, from Palm III to Sony CLIE. The custom-built engine supported both solo and challenge-based play. Artificial Intelligence embedded in the game engine used the player’s performance to unlock higher-level moves; the A.I. also supported multiple-level game play. Using a web interface that was custom designed and developed, fighters accepted challenges and selected attacks and countermoves via HotSync™. Fighters also used the web interface to issue challenges requests to friends or opponents from the Leader Board. Fighter’s attributes increased with experience, just as the character’s strength and fighting skills increased with each opponent he bested. The online Leader Board tracked each player’s standing globally, stored and updated stats, and brokered challenge requests. The PDA Fighting Game garnered numerous press features. The online Leader Board that tracked player standings in real time received over 15,000 registrants in 3 weeks.
- Lead Technologist on Konami Videogames Sites: Metal Gear Solid 2, Silent Hill 2, Frogger. Created a Flash template with animated screens designed to impart the story of each game with engaging graphics and a consistent interface. To accelerate development and simplify navigation for the user, content sections were standardized. And the template’s flexible layout allowed for additional customization without noticeable impact on functionality. The system proved to be so successful that a similar system with the same functionality was developed for Capcom, the gaming company used their version of the template to market another top-five selling PlayStation 2 game, Resident Evil: Veronica X.
- Unisys: Scoped and developed components for asset management system using ASP/COM/MSSQL
- Sony Screenblast: Lead development team through scope phase of Vignette implementation. Set up Linux development environment with Apache, MySQL, PHP, and SSH, Tomcat.
