If you are interested in putting together your own GPS tracking system using dedicated hardware see http://www.vehicletrackinginfo.com/electronics-developers-hobbyists/

Also there are now a number of open source projects from Yahoo / 8Motions / CellSpotting to record cell ids so you do not even need GPS anymore to determine location http://www.vehicletrackinginfo.com/cell-id-location-tracking/

"The goal of the PHP Evangelism Team is to bring together the right people, resources and experience from across the PHP Community to provide developers with the process guidance and best practices needed to create new opportunities for the web."

What does this actually mean? It kind of falls apart when I read it closely.

What kinds of "process guidance" are we talking about?

How does the "guidance" of "process" cause it to "create new opportunities"?

"Opportunities" to do or be what, and for whom?

Indeed, I wasn't aware that "the web" (proper) was capable of grasping "new opportunities." Developers and institutions maybe, but "the web"?

How does this tie into evangelizing PHP? To whom will the team evangelize?

I could go on, but the theme would be the same. These kinds of broad-ranging generalities sound nice, but have little substance.

Clearly I am a cranky old man who pays too much attention to things that don't matter to other people. ;-)
